Forest Industry

This section provides background information and hands-on, interdisciplinary activities in four areas. Students will take a closer look at the forest and wood products industry and its two main sectors, primary processors and secondary processors. Technology has helped the industry evolve through the years. Wtih more sophisticated equipment, a more skilled labor force will be needed. The industry's economic impact on Pennsylvania is analyzed and students have an opportunity to look at marketing strategies, transportation systems, etc. Finally, the students become familiar with the innumberable career opportunities related to the forest and wood products industry in Pennsylvania.
